A Friend's statement towards what shocked us all September 11th 2001;

September 11, 2001, started out like any other day for me. Most americans were either on their way to work or already there. I happened to be off today. I woke up see the horror on television. As I sat there and watched I pondered on how this could happen. What kind of person, or person's would afflict this kind of pain and destruction to other human beings?

I watched our president speaking on the dias, and asking us to pray for the victims and their families and for this great country of ours. Asking for a moment of prayer. I for some reason thought to myself, how strange, they take God out of the schools, and public places, but when tragedy strikes the leader of our country asks us to pray to God?

I am saying as American's we should be able to worship God anywhere anytime. I pray that God, will help strengthen this nation, bring us as a people closer together to work together as one to stop this madness that has descended on us. I pray for the victim's and their families, that they will comfort and understanding through prayer. I pray that we as a nation find that same comfort and understanding.

The plane that crashed in western Pennsylvania is only half an hour from my home, and about 10 minutes drive from where I work in a personal care home, filled to capacity with elderly residents. I thought just a few miles in that direction and those defenseless people would be gone. Our elderly who helped build and create this great nation of ours. Who fought in wars for our freedom and integrity around the world, gone in an instant. I thanked God that they were unharmed and untouched by this maniacal act.

Let us all join together in prayer, for the tragedy that has been inflicted on our nation today, and for the days and months to come. Pray for peace, for resolution, strength, wisdom and understanding in Jesus name.

Lives In The Balance

Jackson Browne

I've been waiting for something to happen
For a week or a month or a year
With the blood in the ink of the headlines
And the sound of the crowd in my ear
You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that you've seen it before
Where a government lies to a people
And a country is drifting to war

And there's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interest runs

On the radio talk shows and the T.V.
You hear one thing again and again
How the U.S.A. stands for freedom
And we come to the aid of a friend
But who are the ones that we call our friends--
These governments killing their own?
Or the people who finally can't take any more
And they pick up a gun or a brick or a stone
There are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

There's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who fan the flames
Of the wars that are fought in places
Where we can't even say the names

They sell us the President the same way
They sell us our clothes and our cars
They sell us every thing from youth to religion
The same time they sell us our wars
I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But they're never the ones to fight or to die
And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire
